A septic system should not be treated as if it were a normal city sewer system.

Septic tanks shouid be cleaned before sludge & scum accumulates to the point where it approaches the bottom of the outlet device.

Since it is not practical for the average homeowner to inspect the septic tank, a regular schedule of cleaning the tank at two-to-three year intervals should be established.

Owners of septic systems should engage only persons registered with the TCEQ to pump & transport the wastewater.
